2004 Honda Accord alternator swap (partial PATCH test)

Tools
- 14mm socket
- Breaker bar
- New alternator (Bosch AL5039X recommended)
- Serpentine belt tool
Step 1: Disconnect battery
Negative terminal first. Always.
Step 2: Remove serpentine belt
Rotate the tensioner clockwise, slip the belt off the alternator pulley.
Step 3: Unbolt alternator
Three 14mm bolts. Mark which is which — they're different lengths.
Step 4: Disconnect wiring
Main power lug (10mm nut) and the plug-in connector.
Step 5: Lift it out, drop new one in
Reverse of removal. Torque bolts to 30 ft-lbs.
Step 6: Battery, then test
Reconnect, start the car, check voltage at battery — should read 13.8-14.4V.
