2008 Toyota Camry front brake pad replacement
savApr 27, 2026
Tools
- 19mm socket (lug nuts)
- 14mm socket (caliper bolts)
- C-clamp or piston compressor
- Brake cleaner
- New pads + hardware kit
Step 1: Loosen lug nuts, jack the front
Jack stands. Always jack stands.
Step 2: Remove caliper
14mm bolts on the back. Hang the caliper off the strut with a coat hanger — don't let it dangle.
Step 3: Compress piston
C-clamp slowly. Open the master cylinder cap so fluid can vent — but watch for overflow.
Step 4: Swap pads
New hardware shims included in the kit. Apply anti-squeal grease to the back of each pad.
Step 5: Reassemble + bed in
Pump the brakes a few times before driving. Bed-in: 5–6 firm stops from 30 mph.
