savWrencherApr 27, 2026

Why

Tesla wants $200+ to swap cabin filters. The job is 15 minutes.

Tools

  • Trim tool or flat screwdriver
  • New OEM cabin filter set (it's two filters)

Step 1: Move passenger seat fully back

Gives you room to work.

Step 2: Remove the kick panel

Pry the panel under the dash on the passenger side. Three plastic clips.

Step 3: Pull the filter cover

One plastic tab. The filter slides out.

Step 4: Replace both filters

Airflow arrow points toward the cabin (away from engine).

Step 5: Snap everything back

Done. AC will smell better immediately.
